CE RED refers to EU Directive 2014/53/EU which according to the European Commission: “establishes a regulatory framework for placing radio equipment on the market. It ensures a single market for radio equipment by setting essential requirements for safety and health, electromagnetic compatibility, and the efficient use of the radio spectrum.”
Within the directive are a number of criteria that different classes of devices must meet in order to be certified. This can be a complex area to understand, but fortunately the akorIoT team are fully up to speed on the relevant standards for your project and also the best approach to designing components that meet them at the lowest possible cost.

The FCC defines three types of radiator, intentional, unintentional and incidental. An IoT device is therefore an intentional radiator and must receive FCC certification according to Part 15C – Radio Frequency Devices of Title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Although not the same as CE RED, the same principles of sound design and thorough testing apply, and the akorIoT team has the skillset to both help guide your design to FCC 15C standards and assist you in pre-testing during prototyping and the move to mass production.
